Customer projects / Tod H's Ryobi LED torch upgrad...

Here are the photos of the Ryobi One 18V torch 10 watt power led upgrade.

The driver fits in easily next to the on off switch.

I used a cool white  10 watt 20mm star PCB led and a matching  driver. I also purchased a round heatsink from you and turned 3/4 of it down to slide into the spring as the stock bulb does.

Lastly I used a 15 degree optic for a better beam and removed the original ryobi pressed steel one.

Customer projects / Jessie U's magic wands project
Last post by LanceTurner - May 31, 2024, 10:39 AM
And a word of thanks for your assistance - I know I've asked you quite a few questions over these past two months! I appreciate the assistance you've provided. Particularly, the guidance around the wireless LED driver coils.

Using foam clay I constructed 'magic magnifying wands' that activated the wireless LEDs. The handle component was a 5V USB power supply. I then coated the whole thing in polyurethane and they've stood up really well to being wiped constantly in a hospital environment. It's been a wonderful moment of delight for the kids! In the photo below, one of the wands is in the bottom left corner.

Customer projects / Anon's 1980's ET toy repair
Last post by LanceTurner - May 31, 2024, 10:33 AM
I just wanted to thank you for the LED's received today in record time and for all your help and advice during the restoration project Lance. It's now finished and my mother is very pleased to have her mother's toy from 1982 now working again.

In the end it consists of:
  • 3x AAA batteries as a power source
  • 1x 5mm Flickering red LED as the heart with a 47ohm resistor attached
  • 1x 5mm Breathing effect Orange LED as the Finger with a 47ohm resistor attached
  • 2x 5mm solid blue LED's as the eyes with 290ohm resistors attached to each. This was because the brightness in the eyes was too extreme next to the other LED's and it took 390ohm of resistance to bring them down.

I tested the amount required by adding individual 56ohm resistors to one of them until they dimmed far enough. It took 7 of them before it finally worked. Once I had those results I just purchased a resistor that had the combined power of 7 of them... so 390ohms and attached it to both eyes and the project is a success it seems.

I just hope it doesn't burn the house down lol. (Hopefully it'll be ok).

I attached some photos and just wanted to thank you again!

Also I finished my first ever piece of electronic work last night after watching a YouTube on how to wire up a circuit. Here's a pic below. I used your strip lighting and 3mm LEDs in this with a 9v battery and some resistors.

Please find attached three pictures of my latest project, Airbus A380-800 which I used extra bright LEDs, PIR detector and a timing circuit purchased from you.

I thought that you may be interested in how some of your customers utilise your products.

Here is the URL for the complete build which includes video clips of the model in operation.
